Dattatreya Jayanti Vrat katha
The legend behind this auspicious day is God Dattereya who is the son of Atri and Anasuya. His mother did several Tapasya to get a son with qualities of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, seeing which Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati became jealous and asked their husbands Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to test her virtuousness agreeing to which all three went to Anasuya and asked her to serve them food without wearing clothes, listening to which she got confused and later uttered a mantra and sprinkled water on all three of them and turned them into babies and then fed them milk from her breast. Later when Atri (father) returned hugged all three babies with all his heart which transformed them into a single baby with three heads and six arms.
When Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati heard about the incident, all of them begged her for forgiveness and to return their husband to which Anasuya agreed, the Trimurti then came to their original form and blessed Atri and Anasuya with a son Dattatreya.
